Our Story

KAQCHI was founded with one simple mission: to empower women through beautifully handcrafted beaded accessories.

Named after the ancient Mayan language Kaqchikel (pronounced ka-CHEE-kel), every bracelet, anklet, lanyard, crossbody strap, and accessory is meticulously handcrafted by Indigenous Mayan women in Guatemala using premium hardware and vibrant glass seed beads.

Co-founded by Kristie & Kim, KAQCHI began after falling in love with the artistry of traditional Mayan beadwork. What started as a small dream has grown into a thriving fair trade business that now partners with more than 80 Indigenous women & families, sourcing materials within their villages to help strengthen artisan communities and create sustainable opportunities.

KAQCHI is proud to be an LGBTQ+ women-owned business based in Delray Beach, Florida. Since opening our Etsy shop in 2019, we’ve been honored to serve over 10,000 customers, earn 1,600+ five-star reviews, and build a community that believes handmade products can make a meaningful difference.
